Sandals Barbados Club Level Suites

Updated: Aug 15, 2022

The Ocean View from our Sandals Barbados Club Level Suite

Imagine the sounds of ocean waves lapping the beach and echoing through the palms into your room while you relax and begin to wind down towards sleep. The Beachfront club level suites at Sandals Barbados provide this ocean in your backyard experience. Add in a private deck with a soaking tub large enough for two adults and you have the makings of a very relaxing vacation.

Sandals Barbados club level suites are located in the Ocean Village complex, which is the beach front's center focal point in the property. The main activity pool and swim up bar is located right below the club level suites and across the pool is Schooners’ restaurant and the powder white sandy beach. Between the pool and the beach are rows of palm trees that create shade for beach goers. The rows of trees have a large gap designed into the center of the thicket to provide the club level suites with unobstructed views of the waves rolling up onto the sand.

You gain access to the club level suites inside the Ocean village complex via the interior stair case or the two-car elevator system. We enjoyed the convenience of the elevators but preferred the quick immediate availability of the stair case when departing our floor. The elevator cars were spacious enough for two couples to ride together without feeling crowded. The stairs were narrow, and passing another couple required mutual respect and giving of the right of way.

The door to our room opened with the standard key card reader and there was an additional deadbolt for added security. My wife and I were each given a card, and for years while traveling the Caribbean we have referred to our cards as rum keys instead of room keys. So rum key in hand you enter into the entrance way with the master bath on the left and a built-in mini bar to the right. Continuing forward the room opens into the main living quarters with a 4-post king size bed flanked with night tables to the left. To the right is a large dresser that doubles as an entertainment stand with the HD Smart Tv wall mounted above. Moving forward towards the balcony is a sitting area to the left with a couch and chair and a desk and chair to the right. Sliding doors with room darkening curtains open to the balcony. Our balcony aligned with the gap through the palms for a nice ocean view. On the balcony was our soaker tub and a small round patio table with two chairs. Near the table was an electric outlet so you can charge devices while sitting out enjoying the sound of waves hitting the beach.

Entering the bath, you have a double sink with counter top bowls and a walk-in shower to the right with an open concept water closet to the left of the sinks. Some rooms have a tub shower combo so please be specific when booking if you have a certain preference. Our walk-in shower had double shower heads and a large double shelf niche for soaps and supplies. There was a painting in the bedroom which could be slid to the side to create a window into the shower which allowed an ocean view while showering. The double sinks were generous and provided adequate counter space as well as ample storage on shelving below.

The mini bar came stocked with a variety of full-size bottles of liquor. Ours was stocked with Appleton Rum, William Lawson Scotch Whiskey, Kirov vodka, Old Tom Gin and a Twin Oaks Merlot. Below the liquor shelf was a hutch with a coffeemaker assortment of instant coffees and teas sugar, creamer, cups and glasses situated on the countertop. Opening the door to the hutch and we find a mini fridge. The fridge was well stocked with Coke, Sprite, Banks Beer, Champagne, fruit juices and bottled water. Room service was always quick to restock the fridge and liquor as needed as well as provide fresh glasses and cups.

The King 4 post bed was excellent. I have a bad back and the mattress was perfect. There was daily straitening and tidying and turn down service in the evening. We would come back every night to a new towel creation on our bed and we looked forward to finding a new unique creation.

The sitting area was nice. The couch provided a nice reading spot late at night or early in the morning before leaving the room. The desk provided a nice work station if you needed to review and reply to emails or plan excursions around the island.

The balcony was sized perfectly for two. More than two people would have felt crowded but for my wife and I the space was perfect. We both enjoyed lounging in the tub together and did not mind the close quarters. We are both 5’9 with athletic build, if we were taller or larger the tub would quickly turn into a solo soaking experience. There is a blind that can be pulled down to increase privacy from those below at the pool or Schooners. We enjoyed starting our mornings with mimosas at the balcony table each morning with the provided champagne and pineapple juice in the mini fridge.

Our Tip: When selecting an ocean view room, ask for a room located in the center of the structure. The rooms located centrally within the building had a direct ocean view through the gap in the rows of palm trees. Draw your drapes at night but leave your sliding door open for a relaxing evening in. Or drop the privacy blind and draw a bath on the balcony. Often there is a guitarist playing next to the main pool near schooners. The combination of ocean waves and guitar music after dark is spectacular.
